Context

Freezing rain is made up of raindrops that freeze when they land on the ground, on objects on the Earth’s surface, or on aircraft in flight. This meteorological phenomenon often has a negative impact on infrastructure, ecosystems, economic activities, and even public health.

This overview produced by the Ouranos team describes how freezing rain events in Quebec are changing. In particular, it covers the observed climate, the representation of the historical climate by climate models, anticipated changes, combined events involving freezing rain, and prospects for research.
